You've heard the phrase "Life imitates art". So what exactly does it mean ? At my old school i had a friend that was an atheist. Nonetheless me being my old self and following the commandments of my Lord, i always tried to lead him in the right direction, to the truth and the life; Christ. He was a very cantankerous person, someone who would listen to you one day, and then the next day twist it around and vomit it back in your face. Sounds harsh, but that was him. How does this relate to the phrase? well this friend of mine always blabbered about his video, computer, and hand-held games. Every word that flew out his mouth was somehow related to the game like nature. I remembered he once said " i cant wait until i get older so i can take over the world and destroy the human race forever " my abrupt comeback was " good luck with that ". I met many people who were similar to him like the student that i tutor. He once said "when i get older i would go and shoot innocent people like how i shoot people in grand theft auto". What a horrible sentence that a 7 year old child would say.
Whats the point ? The point is people are becoming more and more subtle to art. (Life imitates art) People look at TVs, computers, games, even music and pictures and the imitation process begins. When was the last time you've seen a child without a cartoon action figure? like Avatar figures, YU-GI-OH cards or even "out of style back in the day" Pokemon cards. Those animations where all about fighting, killing and destroying. Kids loved that. Its a very small example. But lets look at a very big example..
The bible ! If you notice almost 3/5 of movies that's opening or opened already had a direct relation to the Bible. World ending, Religion wise, Demonic movies, Movies about Angels, Movies that Try to contradict Who God really is. You see there is an enemy out there...If he cant target a person physically, mentally, or spiritually then he would use Something that we all love, which is Art (music, movies, games) He is A liar that fools people in a way that they don't realize it. It all has to do with Life Vs. Art.
Children speak what they hear, and act what they see. Its time to start opening our spiritual eyes and noticing the tricks of the enemy. If he cant get a child to Play Grand theft auto, while enjoying it, getting hooked to it, starting to follow it, and eventually becoming like it then the enemy himself will be defeated.
Music is another way people get carried away, music changes attitudes, it changes moods, and it proposes uncleanliness to people. A song lyric talking about sex and murder serves you nothing, especially when its filled with filth. I've heard a story about a innocent boy that lived in Texas. He was a smart, and gentle kid, but as he listened to what is known as "death metal" punk rock music his whole entire attitude changed. Even to the point where he used to cut himself and treat people like trash. Music these days are getting worse. But like i said before the enemy is a liar. Dont be fooled.
I'm not saying to stop listening to music, or stop watching television or movies, I'm not even saying to stop playing video games. But what i am saying is notice the devil when he uses simple things as art to trip people. Art is all around us, but if the devil knows its your weakness, then he would use it to light a small fire which grows and eventually burns everything out. Be careful and Let God direct you, pray that he opens your spiritual eyes because As the days proceed, Life Imitates art a little bit more.
I love you all
