What a great year this has been
With so much grace and favor and blessings within.
God has taken me through great and rough times this year
And now while looking back, oh how it brought me so near.
Way back as my mind could go
Was God giving a promise of hope.
He said this year would be the year of his presence
And he never failed by making that his essence.
Though this year was filled with fun and joy
It Also came with grief and toil.
Many breakthroughs and Godly appointments
And days with hurt and some disappointments.
In the midst of it all
God was the one who stood tall.
Even when trials and temptations made me fall.
Looking up to God made everything else small.
Trying to count each blessing this year
Would probably get me nowhere.
If i try to recall every single one
I don’t know if I’ll ever be done.
This year God has been so good to me
He poured out his spirit and his mercy was all free
He made me the head and not the tail
And lifted me every day so that i prevailed
He healed my family and brought us close
This is what I’m so thankful for the most
He brought us so much more closer to him
And washed away every one of our sin
I am so thankful for what God has done this year
In school, in work in home and most of all, here.
To plays and galas, and food to treats
And not forgetting the donuts we eat.
Hope is getting bigger and we must not forget
Jesus is the one that leads our steps
Heading into this new year
Means that God is taking us who knows where.
As i digress and think about what God has done
I start to wonder who am i that he would call me son.
Even the worst times when i failed him and became tired
Were the moments where he rushed in to lift me higher.
This poem doesn’t do justice at all
Its words are few and there’s so much to recall
If i try to fit this entire year into one page more,
It would be to say only one thing, thank you Lord!
